The U.S. has many traditional boating ground-zeroes, but one of them isn’t located on any ocean coast. The peninsula shooting up from Lake Michigan’s western shore formed by Wisconsin’s Door and Manitowoc Counties is as rich in nautical heritage as Bar Harbor, Marblehead, or San Francisco.
